Beverly - Francis "Frank" Joseph Toronto, Jr. of Beverly died at Beverly Hospital on November 7. Frank was born in Boston on May 2, 1936, and attended Boston Latin School and Northeastern University, from which he earned an Associate Degree in Accounting. From 1959 until his 1961 Honorable Discharge, he served as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army, where he served in the Republic of Korea and received a commendation for marksmanship. On January 28, 1972, he married Carol Ryan, originally of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., with whom he traveled the world, visiting Australia, China, Egypt, France, and Japan, among many other places. Frank worked for CorningWare, and later Kraft Foods, until his retirement ten years ago. An avid watercolorist, for many years he took courses through the Beverly Recreation Department, and exhibited his work in art shows around the North Shore. Frank loved to entertain guests at the Toronto's annual Christmas Party, where the neighborhood looked forward to his homemade fudge and giant cheese ball. Frank loved to bake, read non-fiction, and do crossword puzzles. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Amanda and her husband Jonathan Cristol, and his grandchildren Lucy and Milo.
A funeral service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Saturday at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
