Beverly - Francis "Frank" Albanese, 91 years old from Beverly, passed peacefully at his home on Monday, March 31st.
Frank was raised and educated in East Boston. As a young man, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a proud veteran and a long-time member of Vittori Rocci Post in Beverly. After leaving the Army, he met and married Mary "Ginger" Wessling of East Boston and worked developing his skills as a barber in several Barber shops in Boston. In 1967, he started his own business and opened his own Barber Shop in Beverly. He successfully owned and operated Sportsmen's Barber Shop for close to 5 decades while raising his family before retiring.
Frank was a life-long New England Patriots fan and a season ticket holder for many years. He also loved and followed the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed trips with his friends to Foxwoods casino from time to time as well as to the Bahamas and just really enjoyed people. Frank was well known in Beverly; he had many friends and great relationships with many of his customers over the years. He knew how to enjoy life, he really loved time with his family and with Ginger and he will be missed by all.
Besides leaving his loving wife of 68 years, Ginger Albanese. Frank leaves his son, Stephen Albanese of Hamilton, and his daughters, Christine Newman and Noreen Bolt and her husband, Bill Bolt, all of Beverly. Frank also leaves his grandchildren; Mitchell and Brett Albanese, Joshua Newman and wife Taryn, Zachary Newman and his wife Meg, Austin Newman, Sarah (Bolt) Evans and her husband Chris Evans, Margaret Bolt and Brendan Bolt as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Sabino Albanese and his mother, Josephine Albanese, as well as his sisters; Mary Pierce, Lillian Ruggerio, and Doris Roye.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch Street, Beverly on Wednesday, April 9th at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday, April 8th from 4pm to 7pm.
