Frances K. Whatmough Obituary

South Hamilton - Frances K. (Lindsay) Whatmough, age 90, formerly of South Hamilton, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, with family by her side. She was the wife of the late James R. Whatmough who passed away in June of 2008.

Born in Lynn on November 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Reid) Lindsay who had immigrated from Scotland. She married James Whatmough in April 1949 and soon made her home in West Lynn and then in South Hamilton from 1960 to 2015.

Fran worked as an aide at Brigham Manor in Newburyport and as a cook at Gordon College in Wenham where she met her close friend and confidant, Joan Monahan. She was most recently living at the Lynn Home for the Elderly where she was having the time of her life, especially with her friend Sue. Fran was very sociable. She loved spending time with family, her grandchildren and the great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She had many long-time friends from Lynn, Hamilton, and throughout the North Shore. Fran enjoyed swimming at the YMCA with friends, dining out, road trips to Casinos, playing cards and caring for many much-loved feline companions.

Fran is survived by her son, Robert Whatmough and his wife, Jackie of NH; a daughter, Marilyn Lattin and her husband, James of CA; three grandchildren, Molly Henry and husband Jon, Alex Lattin and wife Jordan, and Lindsay Lattin and fiancé, Shane McCormack. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Chancellor, Lochlan and Reese Henry and special friends Martha and Paul McGrath, Kathy MacNeil, and Sally Calvin of Ohio, whom she regarded as a sister.

The family would like to thank the many special friends that visited and supported Fran during her final days. It brought her great comfort.
