Evelyn G. Fraser Obituary

Danvers - Evelyn G. (Ennis) Fraser, 89, of Danvers, died Monday morning, March 24, 2025 following a period of declining health. She was the loving wife of Philip H. Fraser, with whom she shared sixty-five years of marriage.

Born in Danvers on March 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Walter "Barney" and Annette (Champoux) Ennis. Raised and educated in Danvers, she was a 1954 graduate of Holten High School. She went on to earn her degree from Merrimack College in 1958.

Evie was a trailblazer graduating in the first class that accepted women majoring in accounting at Merrimack College. She worked for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut after college.

She took time off to raise her children, spending time as a scout leader and endless hours patiently helping with homework. When the time was right she continued her career in accounting at The Center for Addictive Behaviors and then at Northeast Family Institute. She also enjoyed volunteering as an ombudsman and eucharistic minister at local nursing homes.

Throughout their wonderful 65 years of marriage she and Phil became very involved in St. Richard's Church and made lifelong friends along the way. They enjoyed golfing and traveling in their retirement years.

Evie has been a member of the Danvers Garden Club since 1965 and has been involved in every aspect of the club, serving on every committee. She served as club president in 2005. During that time, she was instrumental in starting the Hospice Memorial Gardens along with many other wonderful additions to the community. She enjoyed instructing workshops and mentoring anyone eager to learn. She won her first blue ribbon at the Topsfield Fair in 1968 and continued to flourish from that point on. She entered many prestigious flower shows including the Boston Flower Show, Cape Ann Blooms, the Museum of Fine Arts, and her most recent entry back at the Topsfield Fair in 2022. She won many awards, including a Certificate of Distinction from the Garden Club Federation of MA. In 2018 the DGC created "The Evie Award" honoring a member who displays all of Evie's admirable qualities.

Although she was very patient and kind, she also had a feisty, competitive, sassy side that was adored and will be missed. She loved spending time with her family and they meant the world to her.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Christopher Fraser (wife Kathleen) of Georgetown; Philip (wife June) Fraser of Ipswich; Mary Beth Taylor (husband John) of Centerville; Michelle Dustin (husband Danny) of Danvers; and Jennifer Fraser of Danvers. She was the adoring grandmother of Matthew Fraser, Ashley Fraser, Nicole Dustin, Tyler Dustin, Emily Fraser, Andrew Fraser, Emerald Shea and Molly Shea.

She also leaves her sister Sheila McGinn (husband James) of Chelmsford; and sisters-in-law Jane Theriault of Salem and Patricia Fraser of Concord.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 10:00a.m. in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday from 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
