Evelyn B. (Crossman) Harris Obituary

Danvers - Evelyn B. (Crossman) Harris, 103, of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Chester R. Harris, died on December 7, 2025 while visiting her son in Gautier, Mississippi.

Born in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Clora Crossman. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of the former Holten High School in Danvers as a member of the class of 1940. While she always considered Danvers her home, for the past three years she lived with her daughter in Pflugerville, Texas. She was a popular member of her adopted neighborhood and will be missed for her warm spirit and sense of humor.

She was one of the first employees of Hotwatt of Danvers and continued to work there until her retirement. After her retirement one of her great pleasures was golfing with her husband Chet on Friday mornings.

Evelyn was a lifelong and active member of The First Baptist Church of Danvers. Her faith and church family were important to her and she was always ready to serve on a committee, bake for hospitality, or help at pancake breakfasts.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Johnson of Pflugerville, Texas, her son, Kenneth Harris and his wife Anita of Gautier, Mississippi. Her grandchildren, Kenneth and Steven Johnson, Christine Miller, Michael and Jonathan Harris. Her great-grandchildren, Kristen, Nathaniel, Lauren and Elliot. She was predeceased by her husband, Chester Harris, her sister, Elsie MacKinnon and her brothers Lester and Everett.

There will be memorial service celebrating Evelyn's life at a later date.
