Beverly - Beverly - Elizabeth (Larkin) Avila, 84 of Beverly, died on July 24th. Born in Gloucester to John and Eva (Colby) Larkin, she was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1958. She was the loving wife to the late Roderick Avila.
Betty was a parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church in Danvers for many years and a member of the League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her card group, where laughter and friendly competition filled the room. Playing games brought her great joy and was a regular part of her life.
Elizabeth is survived by one son, Peter Avila and his fiancé, Leslie Ten Hope of Beverly; four daughters, Deborah Tibbets and her husband, Gary of Beverly, Nancy Avila and her husband, Rick Brant of Billerica, Beth LeBlanc and her husband, Jeffrey of Peabody, Susan Moran and her husband, Brian of Beverly; nine grandchildren, Douglas Tibbets, Katherine Tibbets, Nicholas Tibbets, Cameron Avila, Emma Moran, Ryan Avila, Jack Ten Hope, Will Ten Hope, Kiely Ten Hope; four great grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she is predeceased by three sisters, Margaret Telles, Virginia Mondello, Katherine Kenneally.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Wednesday, July 30th at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior from 9am to 10am at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beverly.
