Hyde Park - Donald Richard Kearney, 84, of Hyde Park, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Bedford VA. Born on April 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Elmer and Barbara (Foster) Kearney.
Donald was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1959. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his service, he worked as an electronic repairman, was stationed at the Nousasseur Air Force Base in Morocco, and served as a member of the drill team. His time in the Air Force remained one of his proudest accomplishments.
Following his military service, Donald built a long and successful career as an electrician, ultimately retiring from Gillette in Boston. He was a licensed pilot and participated in the Civil Air Patrol out of Beverly. Donald was a proud Eagle Scout and a scout master for many years, attending jamborees and mentoring generations of young scouts. His passion for community service also led him to volunteer as a firefighter in both Salem, Massachusetts, and Shapleigh and Acton, Maine.
Donald will be dearly missed and is survived by his partner of many years, Barbara (Costantino) Kearney, loving children; Sharon Kearney of Salem, Dale Kearney and his wife Megan of Peabody, Zhenya Kearney of Boston, and Vitya Romanov of Boston. Donald is also survived by his sister, Priscilla Bakula, his four cherished grandchildren; Maksimos Romanov, Isaiah Delaney, Mason Kearney, and Emerson Kearney; his former wife, Patricia Kearney; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Donald is pre-deceased by his siblings; Brenda Kearney, Scott Kearney, and Judith Hoague.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129) Lynn. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Southern Maine Veterans' Cemetery in Sanford, ME.
