Deborah E. (Gaudet) O'Connell Obituary
Swampscott - Deborah Eileen (Gaudet) O'Connell, a woman with a remarkable heart and timeless style, passed away suddenly on April 17, 2026.
Born on April 6, 1951, Deborah was known for never leaving the house in anything less than a "dressed to the nines" ensemble. Those closest to her knew that her true beauty lay in her unwavering loyalty. She will be remembered as a woman who graced the world with her elegance, but more importantly, as a woman who showed up for the people she loved without fail.
Deborah was born in Brighton and raised in Nahant, the daughter of the late Russell and Claire (Cole) Gaudet. She was a Graduate of St. Mary's High School, class of 1969, and attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. She lived in Swampscott for the past 50 years before recently moving to Lynn.
She proudly managed her family's restaurant, the Porthole Pub in Lynn, for many years where her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit created countless lasting friendships. A devoted communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott and a member of the Ladies Sodality, she was a born caretaker who gave selflessly to others. She lovingly helped care for her siblings and was a constant source of strength, comfort, and support to her extended family, dear friends, and anyone fortunate enough to know her.
Deb will be greatly missed by her devoted son, Sean P. O'Connell and his wife Jillian F. O'Connell; her cherished granddaughters, Charlotte Eileen, Maren Colleen, and Hannah Claire O'Connell; her loving brothers, Francis "Cy" Gaudet and his wife Linda and Robert "Bob" Gaudet, her caring sisters-in-law, Joyce and Barbara Gaudet; as well as many loving nieces and nephews and many close friends including "Aunt" Julie Piercy. She has been reunited in heaven with her beloved son, Jason C. Burbridge; her dear brothers, Russell "Cole" Gaudet, James "Jay" Gaudet and Paul C. Gaudet; and sisters Claire Marie Gaudet and Marcia Gaudet Smith and her husband Kevin. She was also predeceased by her former husbands, John C. Burbridge and William F. O'Connell.
Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4-8PM at the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St (Rt 1A), Lynn. Her Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, those who prefer may make donations to the Colon Cancer Research Fund at Mass General Hospital in memory of Jason Burbridge or Dress for Success in her honor at dressforsuccess.org.
