David Charles Michaud passed away in his Exeter, N.H., home on November 26, 2016. He was born in Salem, Mass., on May 20, 1946. He grew up in Salem and Lynn, Mass., and graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Lynn. He attended Carmelite Seminary in Canada and Pennsylvania. Later, he earned a B.A. from Merrimack College and a M.Ed. from UNH. He began his 41 year education career in Newfields, N.H. He next became the supervising principal in Stratham, N.H. While there he received the Outstanding Principal Award for the state of New Hampshire and was given the National Distinguished Principal Award. Then as Assistant Superintendent (SIU 16), he oversaw the building of the Stratham Memorial School. Following this, he worked as Associate Superintendent and as Director of Elementary Education in Newton, Mass. His love of being a principal pulled him back to the Mast Way Elementary School, Lee, NH, a post he happily held for 14 years.

David was an active member at Christ Church, loved his neighbors and was surrounded by family at his death.

He was predeceased by his wife, Judith W. Michaud. He is survived by his husband, Scott; his daughter, Melissa; son, Mark and his wife, Avida; sister, Judith Nikitas and her husband, Christopher of Peabody, Mass.; stepson, Jonathan and stepdaughter, Alexandria and her husband, Patrick; as well as his cherished five grandchildren, Donovan, Evan, Owen, Beckett, and Lucy; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at Christ Church, 43 Pine St., Exeter, NH on December 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, David requested any donations be made to his dear friends, Gaye and Susan on Cape Cod who are in desperate need of a wheelchair van. Donations should be made to the David Michaud Memorial Fund, 6 Meadow Ln., Exeter, NH 03833.
