Daniel G. Gannett Obituary
Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA - Daniel G. Gannett, 68, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass., husband of Lydia T. (Kalb) Gannett, passed away at Beverly Hospital, Beverly, Mass., on Saturday, October 6, 2018. He was born in Beverly, Mass., on January 22, 1950, the son of the late Walter B. and Elizabeth J. (Young) Gannett. He graduated from Manchester High School and went on to Wentworth Institute of Technology for Architects. He met and fell in love with Lydia and they have been inseparable ever since. They loved going to White Beach along with his best buddy, “Sabre,” a much loved German Shepherd, and watching him run through the sand and waves. Traveling up and down the East Coast on his Harley, and stopping at different places along the way, like the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, and places in Florida, was so much fun for both of them. At home he enjoyed being immersed in his vegetable and perennial gardens. He loved motoring about on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean along with Lydia. He will be missed whole heartedly.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lydia; his three sisters, Deborah Morrison and her husband John of Ipswich, Diana Bishop and her husband Jay of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Donna Willis and her husband Karl of Ohio; twin brother, Dennis Gannett, of Manchester-by-the-Sea; sister-in-law, Kathy Boudreau and her husband Mark of Gloucester; sisters-in-law, Claudia Miller and her husband James of Carver, Mass., Diane Kalb-Tarqueno with Chuck Wehmhoefer of Lynwood, Ill; brothers-in-law, Christopher Kalb, with Lorie Emmons of Hartford, Mich., Peter Kalb and his wife Deloris of Hartford, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Dean and David Gannett; and brother-in-law Mathias Kalb of Houston, Texas.
His visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, MA, on Sunday, October 14, 2018, from 9 to 11 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. His burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, since he loved taking care of animals, contributions may be made in his memory to: Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
