Cynthia Bregor Obituary

Salem - Salem - On July 27, 2025, the world lost a beautiful soul, our dear Cindy, who left us far too soon and much too quickly.

Cindy, whose Greek name was Kaliopi, was born on November 28, 1954, and was a lifelong resident of Salem, MA. She lost her mother Ethel when she was only two years old and was raised by Aunt Mary Tranos and father Charles Alexopoulos. She met Ted Bregor in 1973, and for the next fifty years Ted and Cindy were truly inseparable.

Cindy received an Associate degree in General Studies from North Shore Community College in Beverly, MA, and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science from Salem State College. She was a much respected social worker for thirty-six years, supporting children and families.

Cindy dedicated her life to her husband Ted Bregor, her father Charles Alexopoulos, and other family and friends, who will remember her as a woman who gave more than she received. Cindy was kind, compassionate, caring, generous, thoughtful, and the best gift giver. She loved a good joke and saw the humor in everyday life. We will dearly miss her laughter.

Cindy's main interests were photography and politics. She took wonderful photographs of nature, two of which were published in The Salem News. She also loved music and concerts. Her favorites were Bonnie Raitt, Luther Vandross, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Cindy leaves behind husband, Ted Bregor; father Charles Alexopoulos and partner Chris Reddy; Aunt Evangelia Bouras; Uncle George Bouras and Aunt Jean Bouras; brother-in-law, Philip Rudnick; sister Karen L'Italien and husband Jimmy L'Italien; brother George Tranos and wife, Judy Tranos; niece Melissa Devereaux, daughters Olivia and Addison, and son Anderson Devereaux; niece Debi McNeil, husband Larry McNeil, and son T'naa McNeil; niece Jill Yoman and husband Jerome Yoman; niece Cathy Rudnick; niece Yuan Chen and husband Xiaoxia Ye, daughter Jessica Ye, and son Tyler Ye and wife Mansi Yu; nephew, Adam L'Italien and wife Amelia Laughton; nephew Steven Rudnick; nephew Daniel Rudnick, wife Christy, and children Brett Harmon and wife Mallory Harmon, Kaitlin Strauss and husband Dom Strauss, and Amanda Buoni and husband Anthony Buoni; Jonathan Arnotis, wife Nancy Arnotis, and son Andrew Arnotis; Marlene Sorrentino; and Citrene Hurley.

Cindy will also be deeply missed by close friends Jill Turk and partner Len Brenner, Donna Craven and husband Stephen Craven. All of them, along with Cindy's devoted Aunt, Evangelia Bouras, have given endless love and

support to both Cindy and Ted, especially during this very difficult time. We also acknowledge friend Debora Mills, who has known Cindy since 1978, and her partner Noreen Kaleniecki, and long-time friend and co-worker Marianne Gill.

Cindy, words cannot describe our pain and sorrow at having to say goodbye to you. We will hold you close to our hearts always, and we thank you for blessing our lives with so much love.

Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Cindy's life will be held at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Cemetery in Salem.

It was Cindy's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Doctors Without Borders, Smile Train, and North Shore Animal Shelter.
