Ipswich - Charlotte L. Dodge, 92, a longtime resident of Ipswich, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday morning, February 19, 2023. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Dodge who passed in 1966.
Born in Gloucester on April 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Madeline (Osier) Perry. Charlotte was raised in Gloucester and was a graduate of Gloucester public schools. For several years she was employed at Tool Company in Gloucester. She spent many years working on or with The Ipswich V.F.W. Woman's Auxiliary and Action Inc. of Gloucester. She'll be remembered best by many for all the children she had taken care of throughout the years. She was known to them as "Aunt Charlotte." She also loved to travel whenever she could and enjoyed sending out the birthday cards for her church. Charlotte was a devoted and longtime member of the Ascension Memorial Church in Ipswich.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathryn Sylvester and her husband Robert of Thornton, NH; a son, Charles E. Dodge of Ipswich; granddaughter, Lauren Delano and her husband Todd of Ipswich; a grandson, David Bresnahan and his wife Carrie of Phoenix; two great-grandsons, Colby J. Delano of Ipswich, Bryan Bresnahan of Thornton, NH; one great-granddaughter, Christina Waterson of Campton, NH; four great great-grandchildren, Autumn, Hayden and Colson all of NH and Whisper Ann Bresnahan of AZ.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Raymond Perry and his wife Lorie and their children of NH, Glen Perry and his family in Texas, David Perry and his wife Cheryl, Daniel Perry and wife, Cindy and their son Devan and Dianne Perry all of Gloucester. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Dodge in 2011; her granddaughter, Jennifer Bresnahan of NH in 2015 and two brothers, Ralph M. Perry and Kenneth E. Perry both of Gloucester.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday February 23 at 10 am in the Ascension Memorial Church, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery, Ipswich, Family and friends are cordially welcomed. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich.
