Topsfield - Carolyn Ann (Banks) Rainone, 74, lifelong resident of Topsfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
Carolyn was born in Topsfield on April 14, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Thomas Harold Banks and Dorothea Mary (Cassin) Banks. Raised and educated in Topsfield, she attended Masconomet Regional High School. She was predeceased by her beloved late husband, Joseph Rainone, and is survived by her brother, D. Wayne Banks and his wife, Anne, of Newton, NH, her sister, Barbara Ellen (Banks) Pitcairn of Rowley and several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn met her love, Joseph Rainone and was wed on September 7, 1969. Together they carved out a life that included two children, Dean Joseph and Susan Elizabeth. Carolyn's family always came first; she was the ultimate caretaker. She had a pragmatic and calming nature, exuded compassion for the ailing, and was exceedingly generous.
Carolyn's son, Dean Joseph and his wife, Colleen, of Lowell, and her daughter, Susan Elizabeth (Rainone) Licata and her husband, Greg of Topsfield, remember how deeply Carolyn loved her family and how dedicated she was to her life's work as mother, grandmother, guardian, mentor, sister, and friend. She will also be deeply missed by her lifelong childhood friend, Christina Hawley Harwood of Topsfield.
Carolyn was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as "Mia." They are: Ariana Marie and Kaleigh Emma Rainone and Ella Rose and Jake Joseph Rainone Licata. Carolyn will be greatly missed, but her legacy of caring generosity, laughter, and compassion will preserve.
Carolyn's career included extensive experience in a medical support environment and span several decades. A graduate of Northern Essex Community College, she was a highly trained Medical Secretary and Medical Scheduling Coordinator, devoting many years of service to Salem Orthopedics, Salem. Beverly Orthopedic Associates, Beverly, MA., and Essex Neurological Associates, Inc., Peabody.
Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (rte. 62) Danvers, Monday, Nov. 18th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Topsfield. Visiting hours Sunday, Nov. 17th from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Carolyn's memory to Boston Children's Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215. I loved my best friend Carolyn ❤️.We had so much fun together talking about our kids and laughing about our sons esp.The jumping out of the window at night by my son to go to work at the Topsfield Fair or in the morning to avoid going to school. Carolyn and her son Dean and my son Rick going to the movies laughing all the way to Liberty Tree Mall going out to eat with her kids and mine was so much fun and laughs.Carolyns Humor was the funniest to me.My girls loved Carolyn's humor and remember her as being the funniest person they ever met.Carolyn would fly to California when I moved and we would all have so many laughs.I will miss my great friend so so much and my kids will miss her terr...ibly.She was my best friend no one can. take her to Place She adored her kids Susan and Dean and of course Joe and her grandkids she would always talk to me about!!
