Amherst - Amherst - Carolyn Nichols-Chappell, 77 of Amherst, NH, passed away on March 18, 2025. Born in Salem, MA she was the daughter of the late John and Betty Nichols.
Raised in Beverly, she was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1965. Carolyn graduated with her LPN from the Beverly School of Nursing and later received her RN from Rhode Island Community College. Carolyn led a life dedicated to service, love, and faith. As a registered nurse, Carolyn spent decades caring for others in the fields of hospice, mental health and she also managed assisted living facilities. Throughout her life, Carolyn was a passionate traveler and loved to spend time by the ocean. She loved visiting beautiful destinations like Greece, Alaska, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Cruises were one of her favorite ways to explore new places, and she cherished every adventure.
Carolyn was a cancer survivor and handled it with grace. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she found strength and comfort in her religious beliefs. Carolyn retired to Florida, which was one of her lifelong dreams. She found great joy in caring for her grandchildren and spending time with her loving family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kendra Afonso and her husband, Manuel of Stow, MA, Heather Mooskian and her husband, Charles of Pelham, NH; one son, Brendon Chappell and his wife,Dawn of Pepperell, MA; two sisters, Dale Nagle of Rangeley, ME and Robin Morgera of Newport, RI; five grandchildren, Morgan Mooskian, Madison Afonso, Ava Afonso, Conor Chappell and Kyle Chappell; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Gay Goodwin and Charles Chappell, the former husband and father of Carolyn's children.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28th at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 221 Cabot Street in Beverly, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Burial will be at the North Beverly Cemetery.
