Beverly - Carol (Herzog) Whitmarsh, age 79, wife of the late John A. Whitmarsh, Jr., died Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at her home.
Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Agnes (Burke) Herzog. She was educated at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Beverly.
Mrs. Whitmarsh owned and operated Hayden Safe & Lock for over thirty years. She taught CCD classes at St. John the Evangelist in Beverly
Carol was an avid reader and animal lover, former member of St Mary's Cardinals Drum & Bugle Corps as well as Beverly Crusaders, and loved bowling on Wednesday nights in the Beverly Hospital Bowling League. She always put family first.
She is survived by three sons, Christopher Whitmarsh and his wife, Christine of Rowley, John Whitmarsh and his wife Kristine of Danvers, and Matthew Whitmarsh and his wife Katelynn Kendall of Danvers; one daughter, Diane Whitmarsh of Beverly; She also leaves four grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jacob, Julia, and Knox; one great-grandchild, Daniel and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Michael B. Whitmarsh; a grandson Mark Lewis, two brothers, Richard and Robert Herzog; a sister Frances Spoffard.
Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home 525 Cabot Street, Beverly will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beverly. Contributions may be made in her memory to Care Dimension 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B102 Danvers, MA 01923 or Northeast Animal Shelter 347 Highland Ave Salem, MA 01970.
