Carol A. McFarland, 80, of Chester, N.H., died Saturday July 23, 2016 in the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, following a sudden illness. She was born in Peabody, on January 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Alton Choate Newton, Sr. and Mary (Henken) Newton. Mrs. McFarland had been a resident of Chester for the past 40 years, formerly living in Fremont, N.H. She was very well-known at the Village Market in Fremont where she had worked. Mrs. McFarland was an active member of the Peoples United Methodist Church in Fremont. She enjoyed volunteering, and was known to always be there to lend a hand to any and all.
She is survived by three sons, Robert A. Danderson of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Mark Danderson of Salisbury, Md., and Scott McFarland of Mohawk, N.Y.; three grandchildren; her brother, Alton Choate Newton, Jr. of Westford; and her sister, Beverly Larrabee of Peabody. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert McFarland.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 27th, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, N.H. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Peoples United Methodist Church, 4-8 Main St., Fremont.
