Beverly - Carl E. Litchfield, 85, of Beverly formerly of Acton, Maine and a former resident of Hamilton, passed peacefully with his devoted daughter by his side on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Born in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Elwood and Ruth (Reed) Litchfield. He was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Mason) Litchfield.


Carl was born In Weymouth Oct. 14, 1939. After graduating from Wakefield H.S., he immediately entered the Air Force where he proudly served as a crew chief. After an honorable discharge he was part of an aeroclub where he flew Pipers. Carl eventually started his own company CEL Associates after graduating Northeastern as an Electrical Engineer.


Carl was a deeply religious man of many talents and interests who also volunteered his time in many capacities. Carl was a member of the local church in Wenham and in Maine where he was a trustee, sang in the choir, and was instrumental in many renovation projects. Carl loved music and sang in Men's Chorus, Men's Quartet, and various choirs. Carl believed in a life of service to others and participated in Lion's Club, was a leader in Boy Scouts and volunteered at the food pantry in Maine. Carl led a life of adventure and outdoor sports. He could be found camping, white-water rafting and canoeing, four wheeling, golfing, motor boating, downhill and cross-country skiing, and hiking so many mountains he was a member of the Appalachain Mountain Club. He was an avid sports fan and was LOUD when watching his New England teams. Carl was into automotives, especially antiques, and rebuilt several Triumphs, pickup trucks and motorcycles. He also had a love of trains and built large scale models for the Wenham Museum. Carl drew the blueprints and built 2 garages/workshops on his properties and renovated his house in Maine. There wasn't anything he couldn't do with his own 2 hands.


Carl is survived by his daughter, Heather Colton and her husband Jordan and his grandson Jordan Junior of Beverly, his son, (Ret.) SFC. Glenn Litchfield and his wife Catarina of Virginia and his grandchildren, Sgt. Tyler, PO2 Ryan, and Maegan, his sister, Dianne (Dido) Claveau, and his brother Alden Litchfield. He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Litchfield.

A memorial service will be conducted at the First Church in Wenham, 1 Arbor Street, Wenham, on Friday, April 4th at 11AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A memorial visitation will be held at First Church in Wenham, on Thursday, April 3rd from 4PM to 6PM.
