Byron “Uncle Buck” R. Jones Sr., 64, died suddenly on July 23, 2016 at the Exeter Hospital after a period of declining health.

He was born August 5, 1951 in Haverhill, son of the late Byron H. Jones and Barbara (Frost) Jones.

Buck grew up in S. Groveland and Peabody. He was a graduate of Peabody Vocational High School, Class of 1969. Buck served in the Navy during the years of the Vietnam War in the United States. Upon his discharge, he returned home to Peabody. Buck spent many years working at the Sheraton Hotel, Marriott Hotel, and Brighton Gardens Assisted Living all of Danvers as a maintenance engineer. While currently a resident of Kingston, N.H., Buck also formerly resided in Beverly, and Tamworth, N.H.

Buck was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, family member, and will be sadly missed. As an excellent carpenter, he enjoyed making and fixing furniture. Buck spent many vacations camping on the Kancamagus Highway in the white mountains of N.H. He greatly enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.

Sadly, Buck was predeceased by a son, Brandon Jones, a sister, Nancy Hall MacLeish, and two brothers-in-law, Russell MacLeish and Ray-Ray Martin. He was a supportive member of Compassionate Friends, a group established to help people that have loss children or close loved one’s.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Becky (Mavroules) Jones, his daughter and her husband, Shelby and Jason LaManna; his son, Byron “Lil’ Buck” Jones Jr., stepson, Christopher Hagen, step-daughter, Alycia Hagen, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Martin; sister and her husband, Frances and Paul Kuchar, sister, Michele Jones, brother and his wife, John and Pat Jones, sister, Kelly Forrest, numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and his god daughter, Jaymie Brown, mother-in-law, Margaret Mavroules, brother-in-law, Mitchell Mavroules, sister-in-law, Pamela Mavroules.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Plaistow, 122 Main St., Plaistow, N.H.

Memorial services will follow on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory in honor for his love of children to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 814 Elm St., Suite 300, Manchester, NH 03101.
