Salem - Billie-Ann Dempsey, 79, of California, formerly of Salem, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Dempsey with whom she shared 42 years of marriage before his passing in 2008.

She was born in Peabody, MA on April 3, 1946 and was the cherished daughter of the late William and Lillian (Greehy) O'Grady. She grew up in Salem and always considered this home.

Billie-Ann had a long career as a school secretary, most notably at Bentley Elementary where she had many treasured friends. Prior to her move to California, she was active in the church choir through St. Joseph's and St. James parishes in Salem. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Billie-Ann is survived by her son, Matthew Dempsey and his wife Jessica of CA; her daughter, Catherine Miller and her husband Trent of PA; her five grandchildren, Brandon, Hailey, Calvin, Tommy, and Teddy; her sister, Donna Slager of FL; nephews, Bobby, Kevin, Gary, Ricky and their families, as well as several dear cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her son, Michael Dempsey.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 4PM to 7PM and again at 9AM Tuesday morning, March 17 before leaving in procession to St. Ann Church in Peabody for a Funeral Mass at 10AM.
