Beth Marie Shanks Obituary
Ipswich - Beth Shanks, a beloved, cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away on July 6, 2026. She was 48. Beth lived a life of joy, laughter, and compassion.
She was the beloved daughter of Larry and Janet Shanks. She grew up in a home filled with warmth and mirth. Her brother, Tim, was her idol. Besides two years in Pennsylvania for school, Beth spent her life in Essex, a town and county she loved.
While working for the Marine Fisheries, Beth earned her Bachelor in Science, with a major in Psychology and a minor in English, in 2005. She was granted a lifetime membership in Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology. Beth earned a Master in Science (Physician Assistant), and a Master in Public Health at Arcadia University, in Pennsylvania in 2009. She was one semester away from earning a Master of Finance this year.
Beth married Jay Isaac, MD on November 11, 2018, and helped him raise his four small children, Jared, Emma, Kate, and Zachary. She was a wonderful mother to them, and they adored her. Their loss is incalculable. Beth helped Dr Isaac start a new practice in 2014. She was both a Provider and the Office Manager. The practice became quite successful. Beth and Jay were starting a new venture at the time of her passing.
Beth was a force of nature. She was equal parts wise Sage, imparting advice; intellectual Brainiac, capable of addressing any challenge; and comic Wit, whose tart retorts were a thing of legend. Above all, Beth's compassion and empathy were the pre-eminent traits that guided her. As a child, and as an adult, she was a saint to the broken and wounded: drawn to the outcast and the lost.
Her husband, children, parents and Tim's family (Diana, Jenna, and Kendall) invite those who knew and loved her to her Wake at Campbell Funeral Home on 6 High Street in Ipswich, on Sunday, July 12th from 1 to 4 p.m. Beth's Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, on 52 Main Street, in Essex, on Monday, July 13th at 11 a.m. There will be a private reception after. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Beth's memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
