Bertha Jean Daley

Peabody - Mrs. B. Jean "Topsy" Daley, age 92, of Peabody, Mass., passed away peacefully on March 22, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James "Art" Daley and a daughter, Judith A. Daley.
Born in Lynn, Mass., on March 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Douglas T. and Jennie E. (Ellsworth) Waitt. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1945. She lived in Lynn and Danvers for most of her life and resided in Peabody at Brooksby Village for the past several years.
She worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad and as a teacher assistant at Christ Child Nursery in Lynn. She was a devout Catholic and a member of many church groups including the Infant of Prague Guild, Catholic Charities and Our Lady's Sodality.
She was an avid reader, loved watching old movies and listening to music. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing and knitting. One of her favorite pastimes was sharing a glass of wine with her lifelong friends—Ginny, Molly and Lil—The Golden Girls of Lynn! She was also her family's biggest fan at all their school and sporting activities, concerts, musical and drama events.
She is survived by her children: Jay F. Daley (Deborah) of Marblehead, Jayne E. Botticelli (Martin) of Salem, Mary Jo Nagle (William) of Florence, Jean M. Stickney (Mark Bos) of Beverly, James E. Daley (Robin) of Salem, and John T. Daley (Beth) of Saugus; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Fred E. Waitt and Doris L. Waters.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 9 a.m., at St. Pius V Church, Maple St., Lynn, MA. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. To leave an online message or condolence, please visit www.cuffemcginn.com.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
