Ipswich - Barbara Ann Pimentel, 92, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Friday Nov. 21, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband , Merle "Skip" Pimentel, 7 years to the exact date. She was also predeceased by her sister, Norma Lee Thomas of Hillsdale Michigan.
She met her husband at William Jennings Bryan University where she received her teaching degree. She taught at elementary schools in Ipswich, Rowley and Hamilton while raising her two daughters and keeping up with the challenges and joys of being a pastor's wife. As an active member of the Ipswich community she served on numerous committees. The most important was where she proudly served on the board of Oak HIll apartments for the elderly and disabled which was started by her husband.
Barbara loved being in her garden, watching birds, walks on Crane Beach and traveling abroad with her beloved husband of over 60 years. She also shared a passion for music attending concerts together at Tanglewood, Boston Symphony and Boston Pops concerts. If she wasn't singing in the church choir she was singing around the house.
Barbara found joy in preparing meals, making hand crafted name cards for everyone at the table, always inviting those without places to go for holidays and birthdays. Her dedication to her faith and those in need epitomized her joyful and generous nature.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Bassett and her partner, Tom Vitale, daughter, Susan Pimentel and her wife Marianne Kaltsunas, brother, Max Newton of Portersville, PA; sister, Carol Minteer of Billerica, MA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Nov.25th at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 45 Central st. Ipswich, MA. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a memorial contribution be made in Barbara's memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102 Danvers, MA 01923 or online at www.CareDimensions.org
