Barbara L. Henderson Obituary
Beverly - Barbara L. (Jones) Henderson, of Beverly, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, called home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2026, at Avita in Newburyport. Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband, Douglas L. Henderson, with whom she shared fifty-six years of marriage.
Born on July 28, 1928, daughter of the late Robert C. and Clara L. (Rougvie) Jones of Wenham, Barbara grew up in Wenham and graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1945. Barbara worked nine years at United Shoe Machinery Corp. and seventeen years at Beverly Cooperative Bank up until her retirement in 1990.
Barbara loved her family, her church, her many dear friends, including her lifelong "club" friends who met regularly for sixty-seven years. She was fortunate to travel around the world; at the same time, she very much enjoyed the local ocean scenery. Barbara enjoyed photography, gifting her handmade greeting cards, swimming with friends at the Beverly YMCA, tennis, bowling, and all kinds of craft projects. Barbara was an active member of First Church in Wenham, Dane Street Congregational Church, Beverly YMCA, and Beverly Senior Center. For twenty years, Barbara dedicated her time and energy as a volunteer on the board of directors of The Girdler House.
Guided by her deeply caring heart, Barbara reached out to family and friends with her steady stream of cards, calls, letters, and visits, ensuring each person felt valued, remembered, and unconditionally loved - leaving a lasting legacy of warmth, kindness, and connection.
Barbara is survived by her two children: her son, Richard Henderson, and his wife, Laura, of Newburyport; her daughter, Janet Henderson, and her husband, Kevin Carr, of Wenham. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kathryn Weigant and her husband, Jeremy; Matthew Henderson; Bryan Carr; Lisa LeBlanc and her husband, Josh; Sean Carr; Jack Carr and his wife, Cosette; three beautiful great-grandchildren: Charles Weigant, Ruby Weigant, and Avery LeBlanc; and her loving nieces and nephews.
