BEVERLY - Antonio DiRuzza, Sr., of Beverly, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019, surrounded by his family. The cherished husband of the late Michelina (Rinaldo) DiRuzza, whom he missed tremendously, he was 81 years of age.
Born in Aquino, Frosinone, Italy, Antonio was one of four siblings, born to the late Celestino and Antonia (Caprio) DiRuzza. He served in the Italian Army for two years and later moved from Italy in 1962 with his degree in education.
Antonio worked for United Shoe Machinery for over 20 years and then CPI, formerly Varian in Beverly for 15 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, foraging for mushrooms and making homemade wine. In addition, he enjoyed reading and reciting poems, especially literature and books by Dante and Tolstoy.
Antonio loved his family, especially his grandchildren. His presence will be greatly missed in all the lives he has touched.
Antonio fought his illness with great courage, and his family wants to thank all of the nurses, doctors and physician's assistants at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, floor 6A; and his oncologist and staff at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute for their incredible and compassionate care.
In addition to his wife and parents, Antonio was predeceased by his brother, Professor Rocco DiRuzza.
Antonio is survived by his sons, Michael DiRuzza, and his wife Angela of Salem, and Tony DiRuzza, Jr., and his wife Michele of Danvers; his daughter, Antonia (Antonella) Davenport, and her husband Rick of Beverly; his sisters, Teresa Martini of Canada and Giovanna Raso of Italy; grandchildren, Christina, Melissa, David and Peter DiRuzza; also survived by sister-in-laws, brother- in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m, following visiting hours. Interment in Central Cemetery, Beverly.
