Peabody - Sadly, Alex DeLeo, the son of Joseph and Meredith, passed away peacefully after a life-long battle with Cystic Fibrosis on Monday, August 17th, 2020 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
He was born on June 21st 1996 and resided in West Peabody with his family. Alex was a graduate of the Landmark School in Beverly Farms and also was a student at Salem State University studying Health and Medical sciences. He was also a certified EMT. Alex lived and experienced more in the short 24 years of his life than most people could live in an entire lifetime. He was the kindest, smartest, talented and most selfless person you that could have ever met. Alex never complained over the years when dealing with his CF. Even during the last eight weeks of his life in the hospital he never complained once even while it was obvious he was suffering in severe pain. Throughout his life he was always concerned with everyone else around him and was always selfless. The positive energy he always projected was so amazing and contagious that most people who had the pleasure to meet him would always be in awe of his strength and the kindness that he illuminated. Alex was a very special young man that will always be remembered by all the ones he touched in his life. He enjoyed traveling up north to the wilderness with his family and friends and enjoyed the many vacations that he took with his family. He had a fond affinity to be near the ocean and lakes. Alex was also very accomplished musician who enjoyed writing and recording his own music.
Son you are now pain free and will no longer have to suffer. You will always be among us and forever loved by your family and many friends. You are forever our hero, Alex! Love Mom, Dad and Zack.
Alex is survived by his parents Joseph and Meredith of Peabody and his brother Zachary. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Laversa Bursey of Peabody and the late Hedley Bursey of Saugus, and his paternal grandparents, Patricia Kasiecki of Lynn and Joseph DeLeo Sr. of Bradford and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
