Peabody - Albert "Albie" Mazman, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Mary Hartwell Mazman with whom he shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, Albie was one of seven children born to Armenian immigrant parents, Misak and Melina Mazman. At an early age, he began working at the Towne Lyne House, Lynnfield, and it was there that he met Mary and discovered his love of cooking. He was a talented and generous chef and baker and was well known for his delicious homemade cookies and other delights that he enjoyed sharing with family members, friends, and others who crossed his path. He and Mary settled in Swampscott to raise their family and he attended night school at Fitchburg State University where he proudly earned his bachelor's and master's degrees while raising four children and working full-time. He retired as the Director of Culinary Arts at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica. He prided himself on the achievements of his students, many of whom kept in touch, and invited Mr. Mazman and his family to their own dining establishments around the country.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Gregory H. Mazman and his wife Erin of Wenham, MA, Michael Z. Mazman and his wife Cielo Cardenas of Nashua, NH, MaryEllen (Mazman) Kain and John T. Kain of Hamilton, MA, and Julie Mazman and her husband Gary Van Wagner of Sacramento, CA; his two grandchildren Melissa Kain and Thomas (John T.) Kain of Hamilton who brought him much pride and joy. Anyone who knew Albie would surely hear about the accomplishments of his grandchildren.
He is also survived by his two brothers Arthur Mazman, 90, and Harry Mazman, 89; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the beloved brother of the late Edward Mazman, George Mazman, Isabelle Mazman, and Leontine (Mazman) Byron. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
