Lynn - A. Doris Whipple entered into rest March 8, 2021.

She was born on November 24, 1920, the only daughter of Anthony Keyes and her adopted mother, Mrs. Emma Whipple. She attended Swampscott Schools and graduated from Burdette College. She was a secretary for the Town of Swampscott Selectmen before going to General Electric as Executive Secretary for personnel retiring in 1976. Doris attended the Conservatory of Music in Boston and enjoyed a lifetime of music as an accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist. She had the honor of singing the Star Spangled Banner at two Red Sox games and has been a soloist with the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler. She was a member of the Mendelssohn Chorus. She was the pianist and organist for 80 years at Lynn First Church of The Nazarene. Doris enjoyed traveling having crossed the United States twice and has been to many countries around the world. She will be remembered for her signature laugh, joyful spirit and zest for life. "Miss Doris" or "Auntie Doris" will be forever in our hearts.

Visitation and funeral service in the Goodrich Funeral Home, 128 Washington St., Lynn on Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to NorthEast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970 or Smile Train, 633 3rd Ave., 9th floor, New York, NY 10017.
