A. Leo Chouinard Obituary
Beverly - Leo Chouinard, 84 of Beverly, passed away with his family by his side, on Tuesday June 30, 2026 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the loving husband of Barbara C, (Viel) with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Amable O. and Delina D (Castonguay) Chouinard-Caron. In his teen years, he worked for the former Pequot Filling Station of Salem and later went on to work as a machinist for the United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly. Leo later left USMC to work in maintenance for Shetland Properties in Salem eventually retiring as Superintendant of Maintenance for the company. Leo was a hard working man, devoted to his family.
His is survived by his two sons, Roger L. Chouinard and wife Janice of Wakefield and Michael P. Chouinard of Beverly, three grandchildren, Jacqueline Chouinard of Wakefield, Michael, Jr. and Matthew Chouinard of Beverly. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Robert Viel and wife Donna and their children Danielle and Rob and siter-in-law, Linda Viel and son Matthew. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Paul Viel.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 10 a.m. to be followed by his Funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11 a.m. Visiting hours at the funeral home are on Tuesday, July 7th from 4 to 7 p.m.. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
