Vivian's Story

Text size

Vivian (Grenon) Rawlins, 79, formerly of Danvers, Mass., died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in the company of her husband, Clarence C. Rawlins and two children, Jeffrey Rawlins and Lynne Brophy. Born in New Bedford, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Eugene (Bob) and Emma Grenon.
At 51, Vivian returned to school to complete a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Salem State University in 1989. Her husband and children could not have been more proud of her accomplishment. She taught computer science at Catholic elementary schools in Lawrence and Lynn, Mass., throughout the 1990s, while playing an active role in the upbringing of her five grandchildren. She retired to Leesburg, Fla., with her husband, Clarence, in 2004. In retirement Vivian volunteered in a first-grade classroom teaching children to read, tutored adults seeking US citizenship, and built a house with Habitat for Humanity.
Vivian was caring, loving and giving as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. Her warm heart, energetic spirit, and ability to bring people together will be missed by all who knew her. Vivian actively pursued her passions, which included tennis, pickle-ball, gardening, painting, cooking, and volunteer work, but nothing made her happier than a family gathering.
Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Rawlins and his wife, Martha Rawlins of South Hamilton, Mass.; daughter, Lynne Brophy and her husband, James Brophy of Newburyport, Mass.; and her five grandsons, Connor Brophy, Campbell Rawlins, John Rawlins, Jack Brophy, and Nathan Rawlins.
Her memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 12, at All Saints Episcopal Church at 46 Cherry Street in Danvers, Mass.
Online condolences may be made to www.beyersfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Leesburg, Fla.
