Viola Michon, at the age of 104, of Ipswich, wife of the late John J. Michon, Sr., was born to eternal life on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Born in Manchester-by-the-Sea, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Gladys Sucharski.
She was raised in Manchester and attended public schools. Married in Ipswich on September 1, 1934 at the Sacred Heart Polish Catholic Church, Viola and John made their home in Ipswich where they raised their family. Viola was the manager of the millenary department of Zayre’s in Beverly for many years. She enjoyed traveling and fashion, especially hats, decorating her home, gardening and playing cards with her family was one of her favorite pastimes. Viola was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She and John shared 52 years of marriage. Viola will be greatly missed. Her wisdom and faith was a beacon to all who knew her.
Viola is survived by her daughter, Marcia M. Dalton of Ipswich and her brother-in-law, Wilbur Michon and his wife Charlotte of Gloucester. She is also survived by five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Viola was predeceased by her son, John J. Michon, Jr., formerly of Ipswich, on September 20, 2016.
A funeral blessing service will be held this Saturday, April 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the Morris Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Ipswich. Burial services to follow. An hour of visitation will be Saturday, April 15th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society Chapter c/o Our Lady of Hope Church, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich, MA 01938 or a Mass may be requested at Our Lady of Hope Church.
