Theresa M.'s Story
Theresa M. Jacques, formerly of Enon Village in Wenham, Mass., died peacefully on June 7, 2017, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Theresa was born in Beverly on October 23, 1928, to Joseph and Aurelie (D’Amour) Jacques.
She graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Beverly in 1947, after which she trained at the North Shore Babies’ Hospital in Salem. She worked in the nursery at Beverly Hospital for 13 years. In 1965, she graduated from the LPN program at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Hospital in Chelsea, Mass.; she received their highest scholastic award and she also received the highest-ever score (at that time) on the Massachusetts State Nursing Boards. From 1966 to 1968, she served as a nurse in the Peace Corps in the Ivory Coast and taught villagers about health, nutrition, and maternal and child care. Her healthcare background led to a later career in the medical software industry, and she traveled throughout the world installing software and training clients.
She was active, at various times, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Beverly, the Church of St. Paul in Hamilton, and St. Therese Carmelite Chapel in Peabody. She taught CCD, served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, and used her sewing skills to make and repair vestments and other items used by the priests.
Theresa was predeceased by her 16 brothers and sisters. She leaves several generations of nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Paul, 50 Union St., Hamilton, on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Theresa’s memory may be made to Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923, or the Robert C.
