Text size

Stephen George Perroni, 55, of Salem, beloved companion of Edward Nieto, died unexpectedly Thursday, September 14, 2017, due to a sudden cardiac incident at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Salem, he was the son of John B. and Barbara (O’Connell) Perroni. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1980. He continued his education at Essex Agricultural and Technical School where he studied culinary arts.
Stephen began his professional career with AVNET of Peabody where he worked in the inside sales department. He matriculated to Pioneer Electronics of Lexington, as he rose through the ranks of the company he relocated to the south Florida branch.
Stephen was blessed with a keen artistic eye and changed his career path to interior design. He became associated with the Nieto Design Group of Miami, Fla., and flourished as a project manager for many years. He was renowned for his attention to detail and his keen eye for color and balance. While in Florida he began a relationship with the Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins and was associated in the production of their event day concessions and sales. Truly a “people” person, Stephen met many new friends where ever he traveled or worked. If you met Stephen once you were his friend for life. More recently, Stephen had been associated as a manager with RICHO of Boston.
Stephen was one of the most kind and unique gentlemen on earth. He was thoughtful and always lived a life of service to others. If you were in need and called Stephen he was there in an instant. He was a great friend, son, brother, and uncle who always put others needs before his own. His artistic talents lead him to express his concepts through interior design, culinary arts, and horticulture. He loved to garden and cook and was known for his delicious homemade delicacies. He treasured music with a passion. He knew every word to every song ever sung and he was not afraid to share his musical talents with others. He was outgoing and kind and will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, his unique personality, his love of his partner and family and his great smile.
Stephen is survived by his loving partner of over 22 years, Edward Nieto of Salem; his parents, John B. and Barbara (O’Connell) Perroni of Salem; his sisters, Sharon Bird and her husband, John of Georgetown, Linda Raye and her husband, Charles of Exeter, N.H. and Kathleen Blakeman of Salem; his brothers, John Perroni Jr. of Salem and David Perroni of Salem; 11 nieces and nephews; his aunts and uncles, George and Lorraine O’Connell of Salem and Jacqueline O’Connell of Marblehead; and many extended family, dear friends, and his beloved canine companions, Pugzly and Norah.
