Ruth E.'s Story
Ruth Elizabeth “Betty” Hanson of Peabody, age 91 years, died Thursday, March 30, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Gilbert J. Hanson, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.
Born in Plympton, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Ruth Wood. She attended schools in Plympton and Lynn. Betty was employed at Sylvania in Danvers, after which she did private duty housework. Mrs. Hanson loved vacationing at Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. She also enjoyed dancing, big band music, boating, gardening, cooking, animals, and playing bingo.
She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Hanson (Churchill) of South Peabody; one son, Myles and his wife, Susan Hanson of North Andover; and four grandchildren, David, Sarah, Andrew and Matthew Hanson. She was also grandmother of the late twins, Julia Ruth and Jake Orion Churchill. She is also survived by one brother, David and his wife, Mary Vaughn Wood of Beverly. She was sister of the late Adeline Boland, Flora Small, Virginia Wright, Louis William and Vincent Wood.
Memorial Services will be held at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St., Lynn, on Saturday at 11 a.m. to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Commital services will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
