Ruth “Dinah”'s Story
Mrs. Ruth “Dinah” Cullen, 93, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Frank George Cullen, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at her home.
Born in Lenham, Kent County, England, she was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Tree) Card. She was raised and educated in England and after retirement she came to live in the United States with her daughter, Valerie and husband, Michael.
Dinah was a keen gardener and enjoyed spending her time reading and taking trips out for coffee or to explore her new home.
Dinah is survived by her beloved daughter, Valerie Cullen of Salem; her two grandchildren, Samantha Loughnane of London, England and Nicola Gardner of Hampshire, England. She was the mother of the late Margaret Cullen.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service which will be held in the Blake Memorial Chapel at Harmony Grove Cemetery, 30 Grove St., Salem, Thursday, March 2, at 11 a.m. One request from Dinah is that the wearing of black is not necessary, she did not like the color, so please celebrate her life by wearing something bright. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common), Salem. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Dinah’s memory to Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
