Roseann's Story

Roseann Kapnis, age 73, died Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the North Shore Medical Center–Salem Hospital. Born in Framingham on December 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary (Celentano) Kapnis. Roseann was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in the Class of 1962. Her career brought her to Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital, where she worked for over 27 years as a nurse. Following her retirement, she continued at Shaughnessy as a volunteer for the hospital for an additional 10 years.
Roseann was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her many trips to the casinos. In her later years, Rose could be found sitting in her favorite chair with her beloved dogs on her lap, watching her favorite shows.
Surviving her are her sister, Sophia Girard of Salem; her brother, David Kapnis and his wife, Joanne of Georgetown; her best friend and sister, Jane Phillips and her husband, Edwin of Salem. She was also the beloved aunt and god-mother of Tammy McGuire and her husband, Michael of Swampscott. She is also survived by her nieces and god-daughters, Jaclyn Costa-Lang and her husband, Jeffrey of Salem and Brittney Boucher of Salem; and her nieces, Jessica Viel and her husband, Jeffrey of New Ipswich, N.H., and Diane Brunetti and her husband, Ronaldo of Warner, N.H.; as well as her nephews, Jonathan Girard of Concord, N.H., and Daniel Kapnis of Georgetown, Mass.; and great-nephew, Dominic James Girard of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank Celentano and Kenneth Kapnis.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Family Church, 26 Bessom St., Lynn on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
