Ronald Keith's Story
Ronald Keith Crockford, 85, of Peabody, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2017. He was the loving husband of Joan (Smith) Crockford, with whom he shared 57 devoted years of marriage.
Born December 17, 1931 in Revere, he was the son of the late Harold and Elsie (Hogben) Crockford.
Captain Crockford grew up in Saugus, before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948. He served in Korea with the 1st Marine Division during the Chosin Reservoir Campaign, forever a member of “the Chosin Few." He also served in Vietnam, as well as other multiple deployments both foreign and domestic.
Upon his retirement from the USMC in 1969, he went on to work at Sasaki Associates, Inc. in Watertown until his retirement in 1993. He was a long-standing member of St. Adelaide’s Catholic Church in Peabody. During his retired years, he enjoyed working in the yard, monthly trips to Foxwoods, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Denise Hatabian and her husband, David of Acworth, Ga., Diane Belleville and her husband, Greg of Peabody, MA; his three loving grandchildren, Michael and Melissa Hatabian and Troy Belleville; his sisters, Evelyn Grahn and Sandra Lovig, both of Florida; as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Frederick, Roy and sister Barbara Johnson.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visitation on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Rt. 114, Middleton.
