Robert W.'s Story
Robert W. Boulay, 84, of Salem, died, Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danvers following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of A. Anne (Bedard) Boulay.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Frederick K. and Eva L. (Pelletier) Boulay. Bob served with the Army, in Germany during the Korean War Years. Following his tour of duty, he returned to Salem and worked as a mechanic for J.R. Sousa of Peabody, Goodyear Tires and later as service manager for Hillcrest Chevrolet of Salem. His last employment was in maintenance for Phillips Academy in Exeter, N.H. He was a life member of the Salem DAV, Witch City Post 1524 and a former member of the American Legion, Beverly Post 331.
In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by four sons, David Boulay of Peabody, Robert Boulay of Tennessee, Stephen Boulay of Methuen, William Boulay of Salem, a daughter, Diane Chapruet of Peabody, two step daughters, Andrea Dion of California, Carol Haefner of Peabody, two step-sons, James Gagnon of New York and Mark Gagnon of England, two brothers, Roger Boulay of Salem & Norman “Sonny” Boulay of Florida. He also leaves many grandchildren including Mason and Seth Boulay, many great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frederick “Buster” and Allen “Peewee” Boulay and sisters, Doris Ouellette, Alice Santerre, Lucy Longval and Yvonne Colletti.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visiting hours on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [114/1-A] Salem to be followed by his funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m. A committal service of his ashes will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activity Department at Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 90 Lindall St., Danvers, MA 01923.
