Robert L.'s Story

Robert L. Madore, 80, beloved husband of Ruth (Sommer) Madore, died Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Beverly Hospital.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Leone (Miller) Madore. He received his education in the Beverly school system and graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1955.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam Era as a member of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Madore was employed for 20 years at Avnet Electronics in Peabody until the time of his retirement. Prior to that, he worked for many years at Lynn Sand and Stone Company in Swampscott.
A lifelong resident of Beverly, Bob enjoyed bowling and tennis and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Madore of Minneapolis, Minn., and Robin Madore Roper of Franklin, N.H.; one son, Barry Madore and his wife, Kirstin of St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Lily, Stella and Tallulah Madore of St. Paul, Minn., and Riley, Kaia, Noah and Quinn Roper of Franklin, N.H.; a sister, Susan Carroll of North Andover; two brothers, Ronald Madore of Beverly and Raymond Madore of Mill Creek, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard Madore and Glenn Madore.
A visiting hour will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
