Robert G.'s Story

Text size

Robert George Young, age 81 years, of Peabody, formerly of Beverly, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 30, 2017 at Care One in Peabody.
Born in Danvers and lived most of his life in Beverly. He worked as a Mason for O. Manzi & Sons Inc., Utility Metal Products Co. Inc., and many side jobs. He also was a carnival hand and set up and ran the Ferris wheel.
Robert was an avid athlete. He belonged to the softball team called The Misfits. He enjoyed playing pool, scuba diving, and belonged to a bowling team. He was an excellent swimmer and enjoyed fishing. If he wasn’t participating in sports than he was watching sports. He won the Junior Atlas Award twice in his youth.
Robert loved to travel and take long drives. He made friends everywhere he went. When there was a need and someone asked for his help, he never failed to do what was needed of him. He was a gentle man…. what some would call a man’s man. Robert loved talking to people, telling stories and telling jokes. He will be truly missed by all that knew him.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Hatch, his son, Robert J. Young, two granddaughters, Josephine Hatch and Darrielle Pannos; all of Louise’s children from his second marriage, Roslyn Smith, Russell Gosbee, Diane Croce, Pauline Demers and all the grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen Young and William Young and two nieces, Julie and Tammy. He lived with his newfound love, Maureen “Micki” Scott and her loving family for the remaining 18 ½ years of his life until God called him home. He was also predeceased by his sister, Connie LaComb, his first wife, Nancy (Carone) Young and his second wife, Louise (Maggiacomo/Gosbee) Young.
