Rita (Fanning)'s Story
Mrs. Rita (Fanning) Berich, 87, of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Mark Berich, died Saturday, February 25, 2017.
Mrs. Berich was born in Danvers to the late James H. and Elmina (Godbout) Fanning. Rita was raised in Danvers and graduated from the former Holten High School, Class of 1949.
She was employed for many years by the former New England Telephone Company.
A lifelong resident of the town of Danvers, Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite times in life were spent with her grandchildren. She was a passionate Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan who watched every game. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Rita is survived by her sons, Ronald Berich of Charlottesville, Va., and Michael Berich and his wife, Ellen of Danvers; her daughter, Sally Donlon of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Kevin Berich and his wife, Sarah of Danvers, Laurie Davis and her husband, Gavin of New York City, Trish Berich of Danvers, Joseph Donlon III, Jessica Donlon and Jake Donlon, all of Georgetown; her great-grandchildren, Katie and Abigail Berich; her brother, Bob Fanning and his wife, Mimi of Hamilton; her sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Fanning of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her sister, Marie Lee and her husband, Dana; and brother, Paul Fanning.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by her funeral service at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1. All services will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
