Richard J.'s Story
Richard J. Kraus, 67, beloved husband of Linda (Dukeshire) Kraus, died Friday, January 20, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Walter and Louise (Halleran) Kraus. He received his education in the Beverly and Hamilton school system and graduated from Hamilton High School.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam Era as a member of the United States Navy.
A lifelong resident of the city of Beverly, Mr. Kraus owned and operated Dick’s Taxi in Beverly for many years.
In addition to his wife, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage, he is survived by a daughter, Laurie-Jean McCullock of Beverly; four sons, Joseph Costain and his wife, Colleen of Danvers, Kevin Costain and his wife, Kristen of New York, Richard Kraus of Lynn and Michael Kraus and his wife, Ashley of Beverly; four grandchildren, Matthew McCullock, Emma Rose Costain, Taylor Costain and Caitlyn Constain; a sister, Jane Lantier and her husband, Fred of Farmington, N.H.; a brother, Thomas Kraus and his wife of Seabrook, N.H.; several nieces, nephews and his devoted pet cat, “Sparticus.” He was also the brother of the late Judy Kraus.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Franco American Club, 44 Park Street, Beverly, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Online condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
