Peffronia Galanis, 86, formerly of 198 Central Street, Topsfield, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the Beverly Hospital following her brief illness.
Born in Ipswich November 16, 1930 daughter of the late Costas and Sophia (Kyriakopoulos) Galanis, she was raised in Ipswich where she attended public schools.
Peffronia lived with and cared for her late mother until her death in 1989 when she relocated to live with her late sister Catherine Hatt in Topsfield, later moving to NorthEast Arc in Topsfield. She spent her remaining years there with her extended family enjoying many outings and activities.
She enjoyed family gatherings and watching television especially the cooking shows and the Red Sox.
She is survived by many nephews and nieces including Sandra Scahill and her husband, Russell of Topsfield and Susan Lemieux and her husband, Ted of Ipswich. She was predeceased by 13 siblings, brothers, Louis, John, Christos, James, George and Peter Galanis and sisters, Aphrodite “Pat” Bialek, Alice Homans, Catherine Hatt, Ethel Fountas, Elaine Kokinacis, Bessie Lampson and Virginia Pechilis.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich followed by interment in the New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed. An hour of visitation will precede the funeral Thursday from 9 to 10 am.
