Pablo A.'s Story
Pablo “Pablito” A. Valdez, 74, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly July 2, 2017 in Boca de Chavón, Dominican Republic.
He was born on April 24, 1943 in La Romana, Dominican Republic to Francisco Valdez and Lucía (De Los Santos) Valdez. He was the middle child of three.
After completing high school in the Dominican Republic, he went on to graduate from the Instituto Tecnológico de Puerto Rico (Institute of Technology of Puerto Rico) in San Juan in 1965.
He later moved to Miami, where he met and married his wife Maria (Arteaga) Valdez in holy matrimony in April of 1973. This union was blessed with three children. The family then moved to Salem, in 1982 and in 1985 he became a U.S. citizen. He worked in the City of Salem Health Department for almost twenty years until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by Maria, his wife of 30 years, his father, mother and younger sister, Doris (Valdez) McGrew.
Surviving Pablo are his three children; son, Edward of Chula Vista, Calif.; his daughter, Denise of Salem; and son Pablo Jr, his wife Minoska and their two small children, Leland and Abigail, all of Salem; and his sister Nildia (Valdez) Rodriguez and her husband, Rafael of Miami. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Visiting hours will be at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem, on Monday, July 17, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Immaculate Conception located on 15 Hawthorne Blvd. Salem, on Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
