Moses Edward's Story

Moses Edward “Ed” Wright, III, 87, of Ossipee, N.H., passed away peacefully Saturday evening, June 10, 2017, at home. He was the loving husband of Judith (Sawyer) Wright for 60 years.
Born February, 4, 1930, in Newburyport, Mass., he was the son of Moses Edward Wright, Jr., and Rosalie (Hollerer) Wright.
Ed grew up in Newburyport and was a 1947 graduate of Newburyport High School. He went on to earn an electrical engineering degree from Northeastern University in 1952. He also is a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Japan.
He was employed at CBS Hytron located in Newburyport that later became EG&G, Inc., in Salem for 36 years before retiring in 1991.
Ed served as treasurer for Central Congregational Church for many years. He was an active longtime member and passed president of Ould Newbury Golf Club. He also was a member of the Georgetown Bowling League.
In retirement, he enjoyed golfing as a member of Indian Mound GC in New Hampshire as well as Lake Fairways GC in Florida. Ed was also a proud volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels and Wake Up America. He enjoyed many “Idle Hours” boating on Ossipee Lake, N.H., and playing cards, especially with the Bridge and Cribbage Clubs.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Moses Edward Wright, IV and his wife, Karen of Danvers, Leigh E. Wright and his wife, Beth of Deerfield, Steven E. Wright of Bath, Maine, and Kristin E. (Wright) Toomey and her husband, James of Attleboro; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Fraser and Kay Turner.
Visiting hours at the Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green St., Newburyport are Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at the funeral home.
