Text size

Michael J. Stanton III, 63, of Peabody, died peacefully on July 3, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a courageous year and a half battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Mary Lee (Garro) Stanton with whom he shared 30 years of marriage.
Michael was born in Woburn on June 24, 1954, the son of the late Michael J. and Hazel (Brown) Stanton Jr. and resided in Peabody most of his life. He was first employed with the Malone Fence Company of Peabody and later worked at Maynard Plastics and then with Nutramax of Gloucester prior to his disability retirement three years ago.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Army. He enjoyed fishing on the North Shore waters out of Gloucester as well as the local ponds. He also liked to play golf and was an avid reader. His most important time was spent being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee; two sons, Michael J. Stanton IV and Ernie Ruest, both of Peabody; his two daughters and a son-in-law, Sabrina and Richard Anderson and Jenny Correia, all of Peabody; his siblings, Jean and her husband, Thomas Wynne of Peabody, Bruce and his wife, Donna Stanton of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Joseph Stanton of Stafford, N.H., and Linda Stanton of Mesa, Ariz.; his cherished grandchildren, Deanna Ruest, Rhiannon and Olivia Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and his close friends, Mario and Will.
A service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite 102 B, Danvers, MA 01923, or the charity of your choice.
