Michael C.'s Story
Michael Cabot Johnson, 66, of Beverly, passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2017. After graduating from Danvers High in 1968, Michael served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War (1968-71) where he received a Bronze Star.
Michael’s keen interest in flying led to a commercial pilot’s license; work with helicopters in the Army Reserves, and a position as a Federal Air Traffic Controller in Dallas-Fort Worth. Upon returning home in the late 1980's Michael embarked on his career as an Assessor. He eventually served as an Assessor for the City of Beverly, and the Towns of Hamilton and Marblehead.
A devoted father to his “baby girl,” Anna, Michael was also a longtime friend of the Clark family on Washington St. in Beverly. He enjoyed sailing with Scott Clark and friends in local waters on the “Sea Vision” as well as travels to foreign countries such as Zambia and Burma with his (former) wife Kathy Abbott.
Predeceased by his mother and father, Theresa M. (Gagnon) and Robert C. Johnson, Michael leaves behind his beloved daughter, Anna L. Johnson of Beverly, his former wife Kathy L. Abbott of Beverly, and his sister, Diana Tremblay of Gloucester, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Please join us in a celebration of Michael’s life at the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly on Sunday, June 4th, from 12 to 4 p.m.
