Mary Jean (Smith)'s Story
Mary Jean (Smith) Oravetz, 88, of Annapolis, Md. and formerly of Greencastle, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Sandee and son-in-law, Dennis Brown, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1947. Jean was an active member of her church, St. Mark and the VFW. Her hobbies included bridge and golf, but she mostly enjoyed spending time with her many friends in Greencastle, Pa., where she lived for 40 years. Mary Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Oravetz, Sr. and her son, Michael Oravetz, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Shirley Whittier and her husband, Ray; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Her family would like to convey their sincere thanks to the caring staff at the Hospice of the Chesapeake, for their kind and loving care of Mary Jean.
