Margaret E. (McDonald)'s Story

Margaret E. (McDonald) Doyle, 93, of Beverly, died June 29, 2017 at Essex Park Rehabilitation in Beverly.
Loving wife of the late Charles W. Doyle III. Born in Everett. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellen (Higginbotham) McDonald. She was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1942. Margaret worked at the GE as a motor winder while attending school and also worked as a waitress on the Boston-New York Railroad. She met the love of her life at a wedding in September of 1941.
Margaret was a loving mother who spent many years raising her children as well as being a caretaker to others children. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church Parish in Beverly as well as a member of the ladies Sodality and the Couples Club. She devoted many hours as a volunteer at the school and church and was instrumental in the start up of their Bingo. Margaret became a Certified Nurses Assistant in 1976 and spent many years as a caretaker until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling, cruises, food and sweets and time spent with her sisters and brother and her many friends. Margaret had a great sense of humor and loved to sing and dance. She was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had been a resident of Essex Park for almost 11 years and most days she could be found sitting at “her” favorite spot at the table participating in activities. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She was predeceased by her loving husband with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Crateau and her husband, Neil of Knoxville, Tenn., Charlene Donovan and her husband, Jack of Mashpee, Mass., Maryanne Letarte and her husband, Ray of Salem, Mass. and Charles (Chuck) Doyle and his husband, Felipe Miranda of Seattle; 10 grandchildren, Brian Crateau and his wife, Julie of Maryville, Tenn. Jennifer Potter of Knoxville, Kevin Crateau and his wife, Meshon of Knoxville, Ryan Donovan and his wife, Aurica of Merion Station, Pa., John Donovan and his wife, Cari of San Antonio, Michael Donovan and his wife, Mary of Fairfield, Conn., Matthew Donovan and his wife, Erica of Manalapan, N.J., Charron Letarte of Annapolis, Md., Andrew Letarte and his wife, Alisha of Tiffin, Iowa, Army 2LT David Letarte and his fiancee, Army 2LT Lydia Calvi of Seattle; 18 great-grandchildren, Courtney, Alex and Emilee Crateau, Justin Welch, Ashlee and Lora Potter, Madison, Kennedy and Logan Crateau, Simon and Lila Donovan, Jack Donovan, Charlie and Sammy Donovan, Emalyn and Ellie Donovan, Olivia and Connor Letarte and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, John McDonald, Jane Newman, and Kathleen Goyetch.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Monday, July 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions in Margaret’s memory can be made to the Essex Park Resident Activities Fund 265 Essex St. Beverly.
