Lorraine J.'s Story
Lorraine J. (Lach) Theokas, passed away after a short illness. Mrs. Theokas was the wife of the late Gregory L. Theokas. She was the daughter of the late Jeanette (Kozlowski) and John Lach. She was the mother of Pamela, Ronald, and Anne Marie. Lorraine was also the grandmother to five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of whom she loved very dearly. She leaves her very cherished friends Ruth and Bob D'Entrement and her precious cat, Phoebe.
Lorraine was very proud of her Polish heritage and very proficient with the Polish language and cuisine. She graduated from Salem High, Class of 1948, and studied at Salem State, BU, and North Shore Community College. She studied Japanese, Russian, and Sign Language. She also enjoyed oil painting. Lorraine lived in Peabody, Mass., for several years before moving to Topsfield, Mass., and residing there for over 30 years. There, she was very active with the Topsfield Council on Aging where she belonged to the writing, painting, Tai Chi, and Scrabble groups before moving to Rowley, Mass. She was very proud to receive the "Volunteer of the Year" award, but she was mostly proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Theokas always had an "open door" policy for their children's friends, and operated Camp Pow-Wow at Lebel's Grove in Danvers for several years. Lorraine was always a patron of animals and she would always state, whenever she was mocked for feeding the animals: "If it moves, I feed it."
Services will be private. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. Please visit www.RemickGendron.com to view Lorraine’s memorial website or to sign her tribute wall.
