Kenneth W.'s Story
Kenneth W. Nokes, 79, of Ipswich, Mass., went on an extended fishing trip at 3:45 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was born in Beverly, Mass., on July 18, 1937, to the late Philip E. and Esther M. (Whitney) Nokes.
Ken married the love of his life, Judy, in 1958 and they had two children. He was many things in life - an electrician, an engineer, a heavy construction equipment operator, a ham radio operator, a fisherman, but first and foremost - he was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After his stroke at the age of 59, he was forced into retirement, but he continued his weekly fishing trips with his brother, David, and his road trips with Judy until he was physically unable to do so.
He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Graffam) Nokes of Ipswich; his daughter and son-in-law, Lyn and Darrell Silva; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Sarah; his former daughter-in-law, Joanne Peacock; his siblings, David S. and Mary Nokes, Carol Jean Nokes, Karen and David Varga; his grandchildren, Jeremy and Amanda Silva, Stephanie and Joshua Rutherford, and Luke and Jaclyn Young; 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended "family" at Masconomet Healthcare where he spent his last year.
A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held Friday, June 16, 2017, at the VFW Hall at 110 County Road in Ipswich from 6 to 9 p.m.
